Rev. Rudolph and Ramona Blank have served as evangelistic and educational missionaries in Venezuela since January 1963. Rudy works in theological education, preparing pastors, deacons, lay preachers and other church workers for service in Venezuela.
Rudy is a native of Chicago, Ill. In 1954, he received an associate of arts degree from Concordia Junior College in Fort Wayne, Ind. In 1959, he earned a master of divinity degree from Concordia Seminary, St. Louis. He completed additional missiology courses at Fuller Theological Seminary, Pasadena, Calif. and in 1994, he received an honorary doctorate from Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, Mo.
From 1959 to 1962, Rudy served with the Evangelical Lutheran Church of England at Resurrection Lutheran Church in Cambridge.
Ramona (Rivero) is a native of eastern Venezuela. Her father served for many years as a lay pastor in a rural congregation in Sierra Caroni, Venezuela. The Blanks were married in Venezuela and have two adult children.
Since November 2006 Rudy and Ramona have been living in Saint Louis, Missouri where Rudy continues to prepare materials and to teach for the Center of Hispanic Studies and for the ministerial training program of the Lutheran Church of Venezuela. At present Rudy is serving as president of the Venezuelan Lutheran Missionary Partnership, a LCMS affiliated mission society dedicated to working together with the Lutheran Church of Venezuela in its programs of evangelism, theological education and human care.
